To provide an efficient and effective oversight, coordination and supervision of results-oriented performance delivery systems to all MDAs.

 Mandate

The Department is guided by OPC’s mandate of oversight, coordination and supervision of the public service and within the medium term development strategy, the Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS) II. 

Key Objectives of PED

  • To provide oversight in the performance of the national development programmes including projects and recurrent services performance, monitoring and evaluating and report to cabinet accordingly.
  • To enhance public service delivery through  national and institutional performance assessment and enforcement of delivery;
  • To regularly report on performance of ministries, departments, agencies and related institutions with proposed corrective measures;
  • To advise on streamlining and harmonization of government policies and programmes in line with government’s development agenda and the situation on the ground;
  • To evaluate and enforce performance of Sector Working Groups in liaison with the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development; and
  • To coordinate harmonization of performance monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the National Development Agenda with all the other related institutions.
